FAQ's &
Information
WHAT IS MP3?
MP3 is one of the newer computer formats for
compressing audio. It allows upwards of 50 HOURS of listening time
on one CD instead of the 70-80 MINUTES you get with a standard Audio CD.
The trade-off for this extra time is that it will not play on a Standard
CD Player. It will play on your computer, with a downloadable
program such as WINAMP. Get this free download at www.winamp.com
Just follow the directions for the full download.
They will also play on some of the newer CD Players, DVD Players,
portables, boom-boxes, automobile CD players, etc., that have the MP3
circuitry included.
When looking for a player, make sure that the Sample Rate goes down
lower than normal - OTR quite often goes down to a rate of 20 - some are
even as low as 11. MP3 music & the lower end players often go
only as low as 32. This will result in a fast, squeaky, sounding
program for those episodes with a lower rate.
Your computer WILL, however, play these lower rate episodes with
no problems.
WHAT ARE THE AUDIO CD's?
These CD's are done in WAV format, and
will play on any modern CD player, such as your home stereo unit, DVD
player, car CD player, boomboxes, & portable units.
(Some older CD player's will not recognize the WAV and CD-R formats, and
will not play these CD's. There is nothing that can be done about
this - it is simply a matter of technology.)
If you're not sure, check your manufacturer's information for CD-R
compatibility. If it is compatible, these CD's should play on your
equipment.
CAN I ORDER SPECIAL REQUEST AUDIO
CD's?
At this time, we have discontinued the
special requests for Audio CD's due to 2 reasons. The demand for
Audio CD's is down due to the availability of MP3 players, and our time
constraints no longer afford us the time to process these requests.
OUR GUARANTEE
We guarantee that our CD's will play on your
computer, and will be replaced if they will not play due to
manufacturing defects. Scratches, damage, etc., are EXCLUDED from
the replacement guarantee.
The audio quality of these recordings is not always the best. Most
of these programs are recorded from the old master tapes - many of these
tapes are 50 years or more old. Remember, folks - this is RADIO -
it is not modern Stereo, it is not a High Fidelity recording. It
will, however, be a listenable program.
We cannot guarantee that they will play on your CD player, etc;
however, MOST of the newer MP3 capable players will play these items,
subject to the bit rate (see above for info).
Because of the very nature of the item, we cannot offer a money back
guarantee. Our guarantee is limited to the replacement of a defective
CD.
WHY TWO VERSIONS OF MP3 CD's?
We offer 2 versions of our MP3 CD's. Both will
have the same CD - the difference is solely
in the packaging. Both versions feature a printed CD, with Title,
Vol. #, episode count, and playing time printed on the CD.
The LABELED version will come
in a Plastic Slim Jewel Case with Full Color Label, and a printed
episode list.
The PLAIN version will come in a
paper sleeve. The episode list for each CD is available to be
printed out by clicking on the CD title in the listings.
WHY IS THE EPISODE COUNT QUOTED
DIFFERENT FROM THE LISTING SOMETIMES ON MP3 CD's?
Many of the recordings we get will also
have Real Audio episodes included. These will play on your
Computer (with Windows Media Player & other programs). They
will NOT play on the MP# players. For this reason, we do NOT count
these episodes in the total episode counts that we list. Some CD's
also have Logs, & Text Files about the shows, etc. These also
are NOT counted in our final tallies.
WE ONLY COUNT MP3 FILES TO ARRIVE AT OUR
EPISODE COUNTS.
If the disc you receive has any of these extra
files, then you have gotten a bonus. We do not charge for them,
nor do we charge less if they are not there. It's simply easier to
leave them in & give you something extra when they are available.
We do not keep track of which CD's have these extra files - that
information can be determined by clicking on the program names, &
checking out the Episode Lists.
